Today we met with AIDAN, singer, composer, and all-round artist. We asked him to share with us how his career evolved, what inspired him, and where he plans to take his career. Some of his answers might surprise you!
Aidan started his singing career at an age where most children would have just a few hundred words in their vocabulary. At such a young age his family could notice the passion, and as the determined child he was, he managed to convince his mother to take singing lessons. At only 7 years old, he was already working hard to perfect his vocals. As he grew older Aidan’s passion for arts kept growing and growing. He started taking interest in drama, composing, and even creating his music, but that’s not all. Aidan shared with us his love for food; “I love cooking, and equally love eating!”
“My favourite dish is Tagliatelle with pesto, pistachios, and bacon”
Like many artists, Aidan also had a stellar education in an industry that helped him grow his career further. He studied marketing and even held various marketing positions at; Maltapost, government departments, and most recently the Malta Film Commission.
Like many young adults, Aidan enjoys spending time on TikTok watching hilarious videos by `Celina Spooky Boo`, as he describes; “I could spend an hour watching her videos and not even realise!” Apart from TikTok, Aidan also enjoys the occasional binge-watching session on Netflix, with his favourite series being; Money Heist and Lupin.
Unlike many people his age though, Aidan also enjoys learning new cooking recipes and experimenting with different foods. As he describes it; “There is just something special in being able to cook your meal”.
As soon as Aidan mentioned he uses TikTok & Instagram, we had to go to take a peek! And unsurprisingly discovered he follows all sorts of hashtags and content creators, but the bit that surprised us was that he followed hashtags related to Interior Design, and we had to ask! “Why interior design?” Aidan went on to explain; “I find interior design beautiful. I mean honestly for someone that spends so much time outdoors between the studio, work, rehearsals, and such, when I come home I want to relax. Following these designers inspires me to keep my room in a way that enables me to relax. Apart from the fact that no one can argue that Interior Design is just another art form”.
“It’s no secret that my music is inspired and created to be distributed commercially, on the radio, on youtube... So it just makes sense for me to take inspiration from what is hot right now” Aidan explained. However, Aidan is also probably the most perfectionist person we’ve ever had in our offices. He went on to explain how when he gets the inspiration to write or compose, he would not show it to anyone before he feels it’s perfect. Aidan also went on to tell us how in some cases he would finish something, and then show it to a close group of people. If his focus group is not impressed, he would in many cases start over.
“Up till 2020, I had always written everything in English, even though I always wanted to create something in Maltese, I couldn’t come up with something I could be proud of”, Aidan explained. He also goes on to explain that “Nahseb fik” took 9 tries to perfect. Aidan also iterated that once the Muzika Muzika applications came out he felt that this was the perfect time to take the plunge and do the Maltese song he always wanted.
Aidan takes inspiration from various artists, one could even call him eclectic to a certain extent but he has his favourites; Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Rita Ora, and The Weekend. Surprisingly though, this is not the only source of inspiration for Aidan. He shared with us how he enjoys blues & jazz, and takes inspiration from the likes of Michael Bublé, because of his amazing skills.
“It was a natural choice for me! I love the Go&Fun brand. I drink on average one can a day”, iterated Aidan. He also went on to explain; “The fact that this is the only energy drink that focuses on a healthier lifestyle is the cherry on the cake. I spend hours in the gym and try to take care of myself as much as possible. It’s important for me to work with brands that support this kind of lifestyle”, Aidan explained.
“I like the new yellow taste, but the green one remains my favourite” - Aidan
As we asked this question, we could see a glimmer in Aidan’s eyes. As he goes on to explain; “Hard work is essential! There are no shortcuts in music, but my number 1 secret is DO GOOD! If you do good, good will come back to you” - Aidan. One could say that this is Aidan’s life motto; “If you do good, good will come back to you”, and we could see that he valued this way of life. In an age where competition is at an all-time high, and harming someone is easier than ever before, Aidan insisted that; “I would never harm anyone, doing good feels way better”.
“I don’t have any concrete plans as of now, I just know that I will continue creating music, and Nahseb Fik will not be the last Maltese song you’ll hear from me. But for now, I’m taking the time to explore more opportunities. Eurovision is also not off the table!” - Aidan
We had an absolute blast interviewing Aidan, so much so that it didn’t feel like an interview at all. Aidan comes across as one of the most honest and good doing people we’ve ever met, his determination, and willpower are something inspiring to us all.
Finally, we wish Aidan the best of luck in his career.
